All-new Renault Niagara pickup breaks cover

Renault has officially unveiled the production Niagara pickup truck, designed specifically for Latin American markets. The presentation of the new model took place in Argentina, where its series production will be organized. The debut of the vehicle launched a fresh phase of the French automaker's international expansion program, which involves introducing fourteen new models to markets outside Europe by 2030.

As noted by the international news agency Reuters, the French group is making a strategic bet on Latin America, South Korea, and India to reduce its reliance on the European domestic market. European countries accounted for more than 70% of the brand's total sales in the first half of 2026, but the brand's positions there are under heavy pressure amid fierce competition from Chinese manufacturers.

The Niagara is based on the modular RGMP platform, which also underpins the brand's modern Kardian and Boreal crossovers. The overall length of the new model reaches 4912 mm for the two-wheel-drive version and 4942 mm for the all-wheel-drive variant, with a shared wheelbase of 2956 mm. The ground clearance of the 4x4 versions is 233 mm. The cargo bed with a volume of 938 liters can accommodate up to 654 kg of payload, and the permissible towed trailer weight reaches 710 kg.

The powertrain lineup is represented by a 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine from the TCe family with a peak torque of 270 Nm. The engine output is 156 hp in the front-wheel-drive configuration, where the unit is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The all-wheel-drive modification is boosted to 160 hp and is equipped with a six-speed dual-clutch automated transmission.

The interior features two 10-inch displays and a media system with built-in artificial intelligence algorithms that supports wireless synchronization of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto interfaces. Safety is handled by standard systems for automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and lane keeping assist. Total investments in the project's development amounted to 350 million dollars, and the estimated annual output will reach about 65 thousand vehicles. According to preliminary estimates by the Brazilian publication Mecanica Online, the base price of the pickup will be around 155 thousand reals (about 2.6 million rubles).
