Recall of Infiniti Q50 Due to Problems with Steer-by-Wire
A flaw in the first steer-by-wire system produced in carmaking led Infinity to the decision to recall its Q50 model.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that a definite steering software version can disable steer-by-wire system in temperatures below zero. Due to this, some time might pass before a driver is able to use mechanical steering packed in Q50 sedan for backup. It means that there is a possibility of the vehicle being unable to be steered for some period of time.
The defect was revealed in only 23 cars of the line, and now notifications are sent out to owners for them to address their dealerships for software update.
