Infiniti Plans 2027 Sport Sedan Inspired by G35 Legacy
Infiniti to Reintroduce Iconic Sport Sedan in 2027
Responding to customer demands, Infiniti is set to bring back a sporty sedan reminiscent of the cherished G35 model. Tiago Castro, Infiniti Americas' vice president, confirmed the upcoming release during an event at the Nissan Technical Center in Detroit.
Features to Delight Enthusiasts
The new sedan is expected to feature rear-wheel drive and may include a manual transmission option, catering to driving purists. Castro emphasized the vehicle's low-volume production, aligning with Infiniti's strategy to maintain exclusivity.
Strategic Expansion with QX65
Before unveiling the sport sedan, Infiniti will launch the QX65 SUV in 2026. This model, closely resembling the Monograph concept, will be manufactured at Nissan’s Smyrna facility in Tennessee. The QX65 serves as a two-row counterpart to the QX60, capturing the adventurous spirit of the FX crossover.
Potential Manual Transmission and Platform Sharing
Castro hinted that the sport sedan might share its platform with Nissan counterparts, possibly utilizing the enduring FM platform seen in the latest Nissan Z. This approach ensures cost-effectiveness while maintaining the performance standards expected by enthusiasts.
Maintaining the G35's Legacy
While the new model aims to evoke the G35's spirit, Infiniti intends to continue its current naming conventions. The sedan will offer robust horsepower and dynamic handling, designed to provide an engaging driving experience beyond mere acceleration.
Upcoming Hybrid and SUV Models
Infiniti is also set to introduce a hybrid compact SUV in 2028, leveraging Nissan’s e-Power technology. This model, built on the 2026 Nissan Rogue platform, will feature all-wheel drive and is anticipated to be a key volume driver for Infiniti.
Expanding the QX80 Lineup
The brand is exploring additional variants of the QX80, including performance and off-road versions. Initial concepts have been well-received, indicating strong potential for future expansions.
Under Castro's leadership, Infiniti is focusing on a selective model lineup, emphasizing quality and customer satisfaction. The strategy involves introducing one new vehicle each year, ensuring each model meets high standards and resonates with target audiences.
Castro is dedicated to revitalizing the Infiniti brand, aiming to establish it as a premier alternative in the luxury automotive market. By prioritizing the right products and exceptional service, Infiniti seeks to build a loyal customer base and drive future growth.
