Nissan Employs Former RAM Chief Executive

Nissan might take a serious run at the U.S. light truck market when it reveals the next gen Titan.

Previous reports suppose the vehicle will get new engines and model options, but the Japanese automaker made a little announcement today that could tip plans to take on the Detroit 3 in their most powerful segment.

Fred Diaz used to be the head behind Chrysler’s Ram trucks, but Nissan informed today that he takes a new divisional vice president of sales and marketing position.

Nissan presented the Titan in the 2004 model year and there hasn’t been much else to discuss since then. Sales are low and the automaker hasn’t made much to pit it against the Ram line, F-Series or other Detroit 3 working horses.

Diaz worked at Chrysler for 24 years and could bring the appropriate sort of marketing valor to drive sales when Nissan starts its new vehicle.

Previous speculation supposes the new vehicle could come with three engine options instead of the single V8 currently equipped. Yet, Nissan has an inevitable battle to fight with options like the EcoBoost F-150 and the Ram 1500 offering up to 25 mpg on the highway with the V6.
