BMW M Performance Additions for M5, M6 Uncovered

BMW’s M5, M6 and its derivative vehicles boast splendid output, but don’t forget how heavy they are. The M5 is just under 4,400 pounds and the M6 Gran Coupe a little bit north.

Other cars reach comparable performance with less power, so why spend such huge sums on these bellowing V8 monsters? It’s the same reason men purchase oversized luxury watches and why women lust after designer hand bags.

A recent research suggests that Porsche customers are the most likely to spend heavily on options for their car. But that doesn’t mean BMW won’t provide a list of additional parts to encourage customization and the spending that arrives in tow.

The automaker just uncovered a list of those enhancements that features a titanium sports exhaust meant to improve the turbocharged V8 sound. It’s also 21 pounds lighter than the regular pipe system. Carbon ceramic brakes provided with 20-inch lightweight aluminum alloy wheels help to keep weight and enhance stopping.

Moreover, M6 vehicles can be fitted with a carbon fiber rear diffuser and spoiler as well as “BMW M Performance” front and rear strips.

The M5, M6 coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe can also be equipped with carbon mirror caps and a high-gloss black grille. Notably, there are BMW M Performance foils constructed especially for each model.

An Alcantata-wrapped steering wheel is also offered and arrives with a screen that displays gearshift information, lateral and longitudinal acceleration and lap times down to hundredths of a second.
