First generation of the Volvo S60 compact executive sports sedan built on the P2 platform from 2000 to 2009.
The first-generation Volvo S60 sedan debuted in 2000 on Volvo's P2 platform as a sporty successor to the S70. Positioned as a driver-oriented alternative to the larger S80, it was produced as a 4-door sedan with a coupe-like roofline and strong shoulder lines penned by designer Peter Horbury.
The powertrain range consisted of 5-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines (2.0T, 2.4T, 2.5T) and 2.4-liter D5 turbodiesel units, alongside factory Bi-Fuel CNG/LPG options. The high-performance S60 R variant featured a 300 hp turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, Haldex AWD, Four-C active chassis, and Brembo brakes. A 2004 facelift updated the bumpers, lighting graphics, and interior trim.
