The first-generation Scirocco sports coupe, designed by Giugiaro, launched in 1974 ahead of the Golf I.
The Volkswagen Scirocco I (Typ 53) premiered in March 1974. Styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign, the 2+2 sports coupe shared A1 platform componentry with the Golf I but launched six months earlier to evaluate market response to VW's front-wheel drive technology.
Engine offerings included 1.1 to 1.6-liter petrol engines delivering up to 110 hp in the Scirocco GTI. Weighing under 800 kg, its production crossed 504,000 units.

Volkswagen Begins Production of 2027 Atlas at Chattanooga Plant

Volkswagen Lengthens ID. Buzz Cargo Electric Van by 250 Millimeters
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has unveiled the long-wheelbase version of the ID. Buzz Cargo electric work van, adding 250 millimeters between the axles. The extended model features 4.4 cubic meters of cargo capacity, an 86-kWh battery pack, and a wider sliding door designed to fit a Euro pallet.

Volkswagen has unveiled the 2027 ID.3 GTI, replacing the outgoing GTX with the most powerful factory GTI to date. Retaining a 322-hp rear electric motor and a 79-kWh battery delivering up to 373 miles of WLTP range, the hot hatch also brings back physical cabin controls.
