Volkswagen Polo III (Mk3) gallery (1994–2002)

The third-generation Polo brought five-door hatchback body styles, A03 platform architecture, dual airbags, and TDI diesels.

The Volkswagen Polo III (Typ 6N) arrived in late 1994. Underpinned by the new A03 platform, it introduced a five-door hatchback layout alongside the traditional three-door. The model line subsequently expanded with the Polo Classic four-door sedan and Polo Variant estate. In 1999, the heavily refreshed Polo 6N2 brought clear glass headlights and a restyled cabin.

Engines ranged from frugal 1.0 and 1.4-liter petrols to a high-revving 1.6 16V delivering 125 hp in the Polo GTI. Diesels featured 1.9 SDI naturally aspirated units and fuel-sipping 1.4 TDI three-cylinder engines with Unit Injector technology.
