5About this generation
First generation of the Volkswagen ID.Polo EV, featuring the front-wheel-drive MEB+ architecture and LFP or NMC battery options.
The first generation of the Volkswagen ID.Polo is engineered on the cost-efficient, front-wheel-drive MEB+ architecture. Offered in a five-door hatchback body style, the vehicle measures 159.6 inches in length with a 102.4-inch wheelbase. It debuts the front-mounted APP290 electric motor, which sheds 55 pounds compared to the APP550 unit and utilizes a simplified water-cooling loop paired with a compact silicon carbide inverter.
Powertrain choices include a 37-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack delivering 114 hp in the base Trend trim or 133 hp in Life and Style trims, the latter providing up to 206 miles of WLTP driving range. Higher trims can be configured with a 52-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery producing 208 hp and 214 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0–62 mph sprint in 7.1 seconds and up to 282 miles on the WLTP test cycle.
Addressing usability criticisms of early ID models, the cabin abandons touch-sensitive sliders, opting for tactile physical buttons and toggles on the steering wheel, center console, and climate controls. The dashboard integrates a 13.0-inch primary touchscreen and a 10.0-inch instrument display featuring retro analog-inspired digital gauge layouts.
