The Volkswagen ID.3 electric compact hatchback with internal code E11 was unveiled in September 2019. It holds historical significance as the first vehicle engineered on Volkswagen's dedicated MEB electric architecture. Featuring a rear-mounted electric motor and a flat underbody battery, the ID.3 pairs compact Golf-like exterior dimensions with Passat-like interior cabin space.
Electric motor outputs range from 145 hp to 204 hp (up to 326 hp for the GTX version), backed by battery packs of 45 kWh, 58 kWh, or 77 kWh delivering driving ranges up to 550 km (WLTP). A mid-cycle update in 2023 introduced upgraded interior materials, subtle exterior air-intake styling, and refined infotainment software.

During a test drive from Wolfsburg to Vienna, the prototype covered 1,278 kilometers on a 54.9-kWh battery with a single recharge, achieving an energy consumption of 6.89 kWh per 100 km.
