The Volkswagen Caravelle T4 (1990–2003) adopted a front-engine layout, delivering exceptional space efficiency and passenger utility.
The Caravelle T4 introduced a front-mounted engine and front-wheel drive, manufacturing from 1990 until 2003. Available in short and long wheelbase chassis, it configured seating for seven to nine passengers with ample luggage room. A long-nose styling refresh arrived in 1996 alongside VR6 engine introductions.
Powertrain choices included 2.0 and 2.5-liter gasoline engines, a 2.8-liter VR6, and reliable 1.9 TD, 2.4 D, and 2.5 TDI diesels. Transmissions were five-speed manuals or four-speed automatics, with Syncro all-wheel drive available.
