About this generation

The fourth generation Toyota Yaris (XP210) launched in 2019 sits on the TNGA-B platform, winning European Car of the Year 2021. The model achieved widespread global popularity due to its reliability and practicality.

Unveiled in October 2019 and entering showrooms in 2020, the XP210 Yaris is constructed on Toyota's modular TNGA-B platform. Despite being 5 mm shorter than its predecessor, the wheelbase expanded by 50 mm, yielding shorter overhangs and a lowered center of gravity. Exterior styling is defined by prominent rear haunches and sculpted body lines. Body formats include the mainstream five-door hatchback and the bespoke three-door GR Yaris. Engineers paid meticulous attention to structural body rigidity, minimizing noise, vibration, and harshness levels while enhancing cabin material quality. The refined chassis architecture delivered excellent ride comfort and predictable handling characteristics across both urban streets and high-speed highways.

Powertrains focus on 1.5-liter Dynamic Force 3-cylinder engines, led by a self-charging hybrid (116 hp) capable of remarkable fuel economy. The rally-inspired GR Yaris features a turbocharged 1.6-liter G16E-GTS engine generating up to 272 hp paired with GR-Four AWD. Transmissions include a 6-speed manual and Direct Shift-CVT. The XP210 series remains in active global production. High levels of active and passive safety were corroborated by outstanding crash test results and comprehensive driver assistance technologies. Thanks to exceptional mechanical endurance and robust powertrain engineering, this generation earned global acclaim across all major automotive markets.
