About this generation

The fifth generation Land Cruiser Prado (J250) debuted in 2023 on the GA-F platform, featuring neo-retro styling and i-FORCE MAX hybrid power. The model achieved widespread global popularity due to its reliability and practicality.

Unveiled in August 2023 for 2024 production, the J250 series Prado transitions to Toyota's global TNGA-C GA-F body-on-frame platform shared with the Land Cruiser 300. Frame rigidity increased by 50%, and overall body stiffness grew by 30%. The exterior showcases striking neo-retro styling with a flat roofline, vertical tail lamps, and two headlight options: round LEDs paying homage to the FJ40 and rectangular LEDs referencing the J60. Engineers paid meticulous attention to structural body rigidity, minimizing noise, vibration, and harshness levels while enhancing cabin material quality. The refined chassis architecture delivered excellent ride comfort and predictable handling characteristics across both urban streets and high-speed highways.

Powertrains introduce the i-FORCE MAX hybrid pairing a 2.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor for 330 total hp, alongside a non-hybrid 2.4L turbo, 2.7L naturally aspirated petrol, and a 2.8L 1GD-FTV turbodiesel with 48V MHEV assist. Transmissions upgrade to an 8-speed Direct Shift automatic. The J250 remains in active global production. High levels of active and passive safety were corroborated by outstanding crash test results and comprehensive driver assistance technologies. Thanks to exceptional mechanical endurance and robust powertrain engineering, this generation earned global acclaim across all major automotive markets.
