Subaru Crosstrek III (GU) gallery (2022–present)
The third generation Crosstrek unified global branding, featuring a full inner-frame chassis structure and an off-road Wilderness trim.
Debuting in September 2022 in Japan, the third-generation Crosstrek (GU code) unified the model's nomenclature worldwide, retiring the XV badge globally. Constructed on an enhanced Subaru Global Platform with full inner-frame structural bonding, chassis rigidity and acoustic insulation were upgraded. Engine choices include the 2.0L FB20, 2.5L FB25 (182 hp), and e-Boxer hybrid options. The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike. Engine bay packaging ensured optimal front-to-rear axle weight distribution alongside efficient thermal cooling under sustained driving loads.
Interior design centers around an 11.6-inch Starlink portrait display. In 2023, Subaru unveiled the Crosstrek Wilderness trim boasting 236 mm of ground clearance, re-tuned drivetrain gearing, all-terrain tires, and enhanced towing capacity. Third-generation production is ongoing. Designers placed a strong emphasis on cabin ergonomics, occupant visibility, and long-distance driving comfort. Robust mechanical reliability across the drivetrain and suspension components helped establish this generation as a benchmark choice within its competitive market segment worldwide.
