The second generation, known as Rexton II, saw the light in 2006 and brought substantial exterior and interior updates along with chassis improvements. The vehicle received a modern 2.7-liter Mercedes-Benz licensed turbodiesel engine available in multiple output variants, alongside a new independent rear suspension for high-end trims. The transmission lineup included 5-speed manual and T-Mronic automatic gearboxes. During its production run, the model underwent minor cosmetic refreshes and was assembled locally in several countries under partner brands. Sales covered Europe, Asia, South America, and various international markets where it gained recognition for robust capability.
