Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III gallery (1962–1966)
The final iteration of the family characterized by its signature four-headlamp front fascia and upgraded power.
Debuting in October 1962, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III represented the ultimate evolution of the classic separate-chassis Silver Cloud line. Visually, the III was easily recognized by its distinctive quad-headlamp arrangement, a slightly lowered radiator shell, modified bonnet slope, and restyled front indicator lights. Inside, the cabin was refreshed with individual front seats replacing the bench, improved knee room for rear passengers, and subtle updates to the handcrafted wood veneers and switchgear. Mechanical improvements to the 6.2-liter V8 included larger two-inch SU HD8 carburetors, an increased compression ratio, and a redesigned distributor, delivering a roughly 7 percent boost in output alongside the standard four-speed automatic transmission. In addition to factory standard steel saloons on regular and extended wheelbases, custom coachwork by H. J. Mulliner, Park Ward created iconic coachbuilt drophead and fixed-head coupes, notably the slanted-lamp designs. The car was distributed globally to prominent clients across North America, Europe, and the Middle East until production concluded in 1966.
