The Rolls-Royce Corniche IV was introduced at the Detroit Auto Show in January 1992, marking a major milestone as coachbuilding operations shifted from Mulliner Park Ward in London to Rolls-Royce's main Crewe factory. Offered exclusively as a luxury convertible, the Corniche IV featured an upgraded soft-top mechanism that incorporated a heated glass rear window in place of the earlier plastic screen. The most significant mechanical advancement was the adoption of the GM 4L80-E four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission, paired with the legendary 6.75-liter V8 engine. The vehicle also featured CFC-free air conditioning, standard dual airbags, and adaptive suspension damping. In 1995, a rare turbocharged variant named the Corniche S was produced in very limited numbers before production ceased. The Corniche IV catered to exclusive luxury buyers across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
