Pontiac Tempest IV (L-body) gallery (1987–1991)

The fourth generation was a front-wheel-drive sedan on the L-body platform, created as a rebadged version of the Chevrolet Corsica.

Revived in 1987, the fourth-generation Pontiac Tempest was a rebadged version of the Chevrolet Corsica sedan built on General Motors' front-wheel-drive L-body platform. The car was produced exclusively as a sedan and was powered by 2.0-liter and 2.2-liter four-cylinder gasoline engines, as well as a 2.8-liter V6, paired with manual and automatic transmissions. This model was exported to specific markets, including Canada, Israel, and the Persian Gulf states, where demand for compact American sedans remained steady. Production ended in 1991, and the Pontiac Grand Am served as its direct successor in this market segment.
