Pontiac Tempest III (A-body) gallery (1968–1970)

The third generation received a dynamic design with curved body lines and new powerful OHC-6 and V8 engines.

The third generation Pontiac Tempest debuted in 1968 on the same A-body platform but featured an all-new dynamic body design with prominent side curves and hidden windshield wipers. Sedans, coupes, station wagons, and convertibles were offered to buyers. The powertrain lineup included the innovative overhead-cam inline-six OHC-6 engine as well as high-performance V8 options. In 1970, the vehicle underwent a major front-end facelift featuring four exposed headlights and prominent fenders, after which the Tempest nameplate was phased out by GM in favor of the LeMans line and basic T-37 versions. The model was manufactured in the USA and Canada, focusing on the North American market.
