Nissan Presage II (U31) photos

Introduced in July 2003 and produced until 2009, the second-generation Nissan Presage (chassis code U31) represented a complete redesign that merged the previous Presage and Bassara lines into a single model range. In a major departure from the U30 predecessor, the U31 was built on Nissan's new FF-L platform—shared with the Teana and the North American Murano and Quest—and replaced the conventional hinged rear doors with convenient dual sliding side doors for much easier access in tight parking spaces. Its low-floor packaging and multi-link rear suspension provided a spacious, versatile cabin for seven or eight occupants, allowing the second-row seats to slide laterally and longitudinally to convert between captain's chairs and a three-person bench. Diesel options were dropped entirely, leaving two gasoline engines: a 2.5-liter QR25DE inline-four paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission (available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive) and a flagship 3.5-liter VQ35DE V6 mated to an Xtronic CVT with a 6-speed manual shift mode. In May 2006, the U31 received a comprehensive facelift that introduced a bolder front fascia with a prominent chrome grille, restyled taillights, and a redesigned dashboard that relocated the instrument cluster from the center of the dash to directly behind the steering wheel, alongside upgraded multimedia and safety features, particularly in the popular Highway Star trim. Primarily sold in Japan and select Asian markets such as Hong Kong and Singapore, the U31 Presage also became a sought-after used import in Russia and Oceania.
