Nissan Lafesta I (B30) photos

Introduced in late 2004, the first-generation Nissan Lafesta (chassis code B30) arrived as a modern replacement for the aging Liberty and Tino in the compact multi-purpose vehicle segment. Underpinned by the Renault-Nissan Alliance C-platform, which it shared with vehicles like the Nissan Qashqai and Renault Scenic, the B30 Lafesta combined a compact exterior footprint with maximum interior packaging efficiency. Its boxy five-door bodywork featured dual sliding rear doors, a low beltline for enhanced visibility, and an available massive panoramic glass roof that flooded the three-row, seven-passenger cabin with natural light. Power was provided by a newly developed 2.0-liter MR20DE inline-four gasoline engine paired exclusively with an Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT), delivering smooth acceleration and competitive fuel economy. Both front-wheel-drive and electronically controlled all-wheel-drive configurations were offered to suit varying climate conditions. In 2007, the model received a comprehensive facelift that introduced revised front grilles, updated headlamps, redesigned bumpers, and refreshed interior upholstery, alongside the popular Highway Star trim featuring a sportier aero body kit. Even after the second generation debuted in 2011, the B30 remained in production as a budget-friendly alternative renamed the Lafesta Joy until late 2012. Primarily marketed as a Japanese domestic market vehicle, it also found strong demand as a grey-import family car in Russia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia.
