Nissan Cefiro II (A32) photos

Produced between 1994 and 2000, the second-generation Nissan Cefiro (A32) completely redefined the model line compared to its rear-wheel-drive A31 predecessor. Adopting a front-wheel-drive platform paired with a Multi-Link Beam rear suspension, the A32 prioritized cabin space, ride comfort, and refinement. Alongside the standard four-door notchback sedan, Nissan introduced a practical five-door station wagon (Cefiro Wagon) in 1997, which remained in production until 2000. Power came exclusively from Nissan's newly developed all-aluminum VQ-series V6 engines, including the 2.0-liter VQ20DE, 2.5-liter VQ25DE, and 3.0-liter VQ30DE, mated to either a 4-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission. A mid-cycle facelift around 1997 brought multi-reflector clear-lens headlights, reshaped bumpers, updated taillights, and revised interior trim and safety equipment. Unlike the first generation, the A32 was engineered as a global vehicle: it was sold as the Cefiro in Japan and parts of Asia, exported to Europe and Australia as the Nissan Maxima (or Maxima QX), and marketed in North America both as the Maxima and the luxury-oriented Infiniti I30.
