Nissan AD IV (Y12) photos

Introduced in December 2006, the fourth-generation Nissan AD with the Y12 chassis code marked a substantial technical leap over the outgoing Y11 by adopting the Renault-Nissan Alliance B-platform, shared with the Wingroad Y12, Tiida, and Note. Retaining its practical five-door station wagon body style, the Y12 was designed from the ground up to maximize interior volume, featuring a long flat load floor, squared-off wheel arches, and a wide tailgate opening suitable for daily delivery and trade work. Inside, the cabin introduced mobile-office conveniences such as a fold-out passenger-side desk, multiple storage compartments for A4 binders, and durable water-repellent seating materials. Under the hood, Nissan replaced the older QG engines with newer all-aluminum inline-four gasoline units, including the 1.2-liter CR12DE, 1.5-liter HR15DE, 1.8-liter MR18DE, and the 1.6-liter HR16DE reserved for all-wheel-drive variants. Transmission choices shifted toward fuel efficiency with the widespread adoption of an Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) on front-wheel-drive models, while a conventional 4-speed automatic remained available on four-wheel-drive versions. Over its remarkably long production run, the Y12 underwent multiple updates: in late 2016 it received a refreshed front fascia, standard autonomous emergency braking, and was temporarily rebranded as the Nissan NV150 AD before reverting to the Nissan AD name in 2021. Exclusively focused on the Japanese domestic market, it has also been sold via OEM agreements as the Mazda Familia Van and Mitsubishi Lancer Cargo.
