About this generation

The ASX I (GA0W) vehicle generation was manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors from 2010 to 2023 and offered in SUV body configurations.

The first-generation Mitsubishi ASX (GA0W body designation) premiered at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010, badged as the RVR in Japan and Outlander Sport in the United States. Built on a shortened iteration of the Mitsubishi GS platform shared with the Outlander XL, the compact crossover featured a five-door layout with a ground clearance of up to 200 mm. Engineering of the ASX I (GA0W) (factory code GA0W) emphasized high structural rigidity, aerodynamic efficiency, and optimized interior spatial packaging. Built with reinforced body structures utilizing high-tensile steel alloys, the platform delivered reduced curb weight alongside improved occupant crash protection. The vehicle was distributed globally in multiple configuration packages designed to satisfy diverse market demands and regional regulatory specifications.

Petrol engine selections included 1.6-liter (4A92), 1.8-liter (4B10), and 2.0-liter (4B11) MIVEC four-cylinder units, complemented by 1.8-liter and 2.2-liter Di-D turbodiesels. Drivetrain choices encompassed front-wheel drive and electronically controlled AWC four-wheel drive. Over its 13-year lifespan, the vehicle underwent four significant facelifts (2012, 2016, 2017, 2019) that refreshed front fascias and lighting. The powertrain lineup incorporated efficient engine families paired with robust manual, automatic, or continuously variable transmissions depending on trim selection. Drivetrain engineering integrated advanced suspension tuning and traction management systems.
