About this generation

Eleventh generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223), produced since 2020 featuring flush door handles, OLED displays, and Level 3 Drive Pilot.

The eleventh-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223) was officially unveiled in September 2020. Underpinned by the MRA II platform utilizing extensive aluminum construction, the W223 achieves an aerodynamic drag coefficient of just 0.22. Key exterior features include seamless flush-fitting door handles and DIGITAL LIGHT HD projectors capable of projecting symbols onto the roadway. Offered in standard (W223), long-wheelbase (V223), and ultra-luxury Mercedes-Maybach (Z223) sedan formats, the cabin features a central 12.8-inch portrait OLED display running second-generation MBUX software with 3D driver instruments.

Powertrains center on M256 inline-six, M176 V8, and OM656 diesel engines equipped with 48V Integrated Starter-Generators, plus the S 580 e plug-in hybrid featuring a 28.6 kWh battery with over 100 km of EV range. The halo Mercedes-AMG S 63 E PERFORMANCE outputs a combined 802 horsepower. Groundbreaking safety and chassis innovations include world-first frontal airbags for rear passengers, rear-axle steering turning up to 10 degrees, and internationally certified Level 3 conditional autonomous driving via the Drive Pilot system.
