About this generation

The third generation of the Mazda CX-5 compact crossover SUV, introduced for the 2026 model year with an overhauled digital cabin and a hybrid powertrain option.

The third-generation Mazda CX-5 launched via a complete redesign for the 2026 model year, succeeding the long-running KF series. Retaining its five-door compact SUV body style, the updated generation brings a modernized interior centered around a standard 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, an eight-speaker audio system, and 17-inch alloy wheels on entry-level trims.

Under the hood, standard versions are powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine producing 187 horsepower, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The lineup also expands to include a hybrid variant designed to deliver higher output and better fuel efficiency compared to the previous generation. For the 2027 model year, the crossover gains standard Google built-in technology featuring the Gemini AI voice assistant for hands-free vehicle interaction.
