The iconic fifth-generation Pininfarina-designed luxury grand tourer powered by a screaming Ferrari-developed V8 engine.

Debuting at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, the fifth-generation Maserati Quattroporte (Tipo M139) revitalized the brand worldwide. Designed by Ken Okuyama at Pininfarina, it paired graceful Italian proportions with pure sports car dynamics. The M139 rode on an all-new rear-wheel-drive platform utilizing a rigid steel monocoque with aluminum subframes and Skyhook active damping. To achieve near-perfect front/rear weight distribution (47:53), the engine was mounted in a front-mid position while the electro-actuated 6-speed DuoSelect automated manual gearbox was situated at the rear axle in a transaxle arrangement. The heart of the car was a dry-sump 4.2-liter naturally aspirated Ferrari-Maserati V8 producing 400 hp. In 2007, responding to customer demand for greater refinement, the Quattroporte Automatica debuted with a conventional ZF 6-speed wet-sump automatic transmission. A comprehensive 2008 mid-cycle refresh introduced updated LED lighting, redesigned grilles, and a larger 4.7-liter V8 producing up to 440 hp in the high-performance S and Sport GT S trims. Over 25,200 units were delivered across global markets until production ended in 2012.
