Lexus LS II (XF20) gallery (1994–2000)

The second-generation Lexus LS 400 sedan (chassis code XF20) debuted in November 1994 for the 1995 model year. While preserving its predecessor's distinguished profile, body panel tolerances were tightened and the wheelbase was lengthened by 2.0 inches to enhance rear seat passenger room. Overall weight decreased by 209 pounds through extensive aluminum structural use. Interior innovations included the world's first CD-ROM-based automobile navigation system, dual-zone climate control, and enhanced acoustic damping.

The 4.0-liter 1UZ-FE V8 engine was upgraded to 260 horsepower. For the 1998 model year, a major technical overhaul introduced Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) and a five-speed automatic transmission, boosting output to 290 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. The facelift also brought high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights, revised front fascia styling, side-impact airbags, and vehicle skid control (VSC).
