The first-generation Kia Rio (DC) was produced from 1999 to 2005 as the successor to the aging Kia Pride. Built on Kia's proprietary B-segment platform, it was offered in 4-door sedan and unique 5-door station wagon body styles (badged as Rio Cinco or RX-V in North America). The sedan spanned 4,215 mm in length with a 2,410 mm wheelbase, combining a generous trunk capacity with easy urban maneuverability. This generation of the Rio (DC) was produced from 1999 to 2005 and offered in седан, универсал body styles. Built on an engineered platform, it features strong structural rigidity, refined aerodynamics, and advanced occupant safety engineering.

Engines included 1.3-liter (75-84 hp) and 1.5-liter DOHC (96-105 hp) four-cylinder petrol engines mated to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. A major 2002 mid-cycle facelift (styled as Rio SF) updated the front fascia with redesigned headlamps, fresh grille styling, reinforced chassis mounting points, and enhanced cabin soundproofing. The powertrain lineup features modern engines optimized for thermal efficiency, balancing responsive acceleration with economical fuel consumption. Power is delivered through reliable manual or automatic transmissions. Mid-cycle updates introduced modernized LED lighting graphics, premium cabin materials, and enhanced active driver assistance suites.
