The seventh-generation Hyundai Sonata (LF chassis) premiered in March 2014 in Seoul. Shifting to a more dignified aesthetic under Fluidic Sculpture 2.0, the LF utilized 51% advanced high-strength steel in its structure, delivering a 41% increase in torsional rigidity.
Engine variants included 2.0-liter, 2.4-liter GDI, 1.6-liter T-GDI, and 2.0-liter Turbo (245 hp) engines, along with a 1.7-liter CRDi diesel and a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV). A major 2017 facelift (marketed as Sonata New Rise) refreshed the cascading grille, lighting clusters, and introduced an eight-speed automatic gearbox on select turbo trims.
