Hyundai Sonata IV (EF) gallery (1998–2004)

The fourth-generation Hyundai Sonata (EF) ran from 1998 to 2004, introducing all-new proprietary Y4 platform architecture and Delta V6 engines.

The fourth-generation Hyundai Sonata (EF platform) premiered in 1998. Built on Hyundai's fresh Y4 architecture featuring front double-wishbone and rear multi-link suspension, the EF offered refined road dynamics. It was famously produced under license by TagAZ in Russia for many years.

Engines included 2.0-liter, 2.4-liter four-cylinders, and an all-aluminum 2.5-liter Delta V6 (160 hp). A major 2001 facelift (EF-B) dramatically altered the exterior styling with twin-round headlamps, a reshaped hood, and an upgraded 2.7-liter Delta V6 engine (172 hp).
