The second-generation Hyundai Santa Fe (CM) ran from 2006 to 2012, introducing optional three-row seating and refined V6 engines.
The second-generation Hyundai Santa Fe (CM chassis) debuted at the North American International Auto Show in January 2006. Penned at Hyundai's California design studio, the CM grew significantly in overall length, allowing for an optional third-row seven-passenger seating layout. The AWD system utilized an electronically controlled interactive torque management coupling.
Powertrains spanned 2.4-liter Theta II, 2.7-liter Mu V6, and 3.3-liter Lambda V6 petrol engines, alongside highly regarded 2.2-liter CRDi turbodiesels. A major 2009 facelift updated the front fascia with a bar-style grille, redesigned tail lamps, and introduced new Smartstream R-series diesels paired with six-speed transmissions.
