The I (FC) generation of the Hyundai Matrix was manufactured between 2001 and 2010. The Hyundai Matrix (FC platform, badged Lavita in South Korea) launched in 2001. Designed by Italian studio Pininfarina, it featured a high seating position and large side windows.
Engine choices spanned 1.6L Alpha, 1.8L Beta petrol units, and 1.5L CRDi turbodiesels. Facelifts occurred in 2005 and 2008. Throughout its production run, the I (FC) established a strong reputation for powertrain efficiency, passenger comfort, and structural reliability.
