The subcompact Hyundai Getz (TB platform) premiered at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2002. Engineered at Hyundai's Frankfurt R&D center for urban commuters, the Getz was produced in 3-door and 5-door hatchback body configurations. It gained immense popularity due to its high fuel economy, mechanical reliability, and versatile rear seating.

Engines included 1.1-liter Epsilon, 1.3-liter Alpha, 1.4-liter Alpha II, and 1.6-liter Alpha 16V four-cylinder petrol engines, plus a 1.5-liter CRDi turbodiesel. Transmissions were a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. A 2005 facelift (Getz Prime) brought almond-shaped headlights, restyled grilles, and an updated steering wheel.
