GMC Terrain I (Theta) gallery (2009–2017)

The first-generation GMC Terrain was introduced at the 2009 New York International Auto Show for the 2010 model year, serving as an entry-level crossover positioned below the Acadia following the phase-out of the Pontiac brand and the Pontiac Torrent. Built on the front-wheel-drive GM Theta platform alongside the second-generation Chevrolet Equinox, the Terrain stood apart with its aggressive, muscular design highlighted by prominent squared fender flares and an imposing grille. The five-passenger cabin featured the versatile MultiFlex sliding rear seat that could move fore and aft by nearly 8 inches. Engine offerings initially comprised a 2.4-liter direct-injected Ecotec inline-four (182 hp) and a 3.0-liter High Feature V6 (264 hp). For the 2013 model year, the 3.0-liter V6 was replaced by a more powerful 3.6-liter LFX V6 making 301 hp, coinciding with the launch of the upscale Terrain Denali trim. All powertrains utilized Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmissions with available AWD. A subtle refresh for 2016 revised the bumpers, hood, and LED daytime running lamps before production ended in 2017 at the CAMI plant in Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada.
