GMC Sonoma II (GMT325) gallery (1994–2004)

The second-generation GMC Sonoma was introduced for the 1994 model year on an extensively redesigned GMT325 platform. The redesign brought aerodynamic exterior styling, improved structural rigidity, and a completely modern passenger car-like interior. Available cab configurations included the two-door Regular Cab, the Extended Cab with rear access doors, and, beginning in 2001, a spacious four-door Crew Cab. Power came from an entry-level 2.2-liter Vortec inline-four gasoline engine or a potent 4.3-liter Vortec V6 producing up to 190 horsepower. Transmission choices consisted of a five-speed manual and the robust 4L60-E four-speed automatic transmission. Both rear-wheel-drive and electronic shift-on-the-fly four-wheel-drive systems were available. A major mid-cycle refresh arrived in 1998, updating the front fascia, headlights, interior dashboard architecture, and adding dual front airbags. The truck was sold primarily across North America until its retirement in 2004.
