The third-generation GMC Canyon featuring a high-output 2.7-liter TurboMax engine, advanced digital cockpit, and the extreme AT4X off-road trim.
The third-generation GMC Canyon debuted in August 2022 for the 2023 model year, utilizing the heavily overhauled GMT31XX-2 body-on-frame platform. For this generation, GMC simplified the body lineup by offering exclusively a four-door Crew Cab paired with a short bed, incorporating a wider track and standard factory suspension lift across all trims. The previous naturally aspirated V6, base four-cylinder, and Duramax diesel engines were completely replaced by a single high-output 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four engine (designated TurboMax / L3B) producing 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed through an updated second-generation Hydra-Matic eight-speed automatic transmission to either the rear wheels or an advanced four-wheel-drive system with an auto mode. A major highlight is the introduction of the flagship AT4X off-road model, equipped with Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers, front and rear electronic locking differentials, and underbody cameras. Inside, the cabin received an 11.3-inch touchscreen with built-in Google functionality and an 11-inch digital gauge cluster. It is produced in Wentzville, Missouri for North America.
