About this generation

The third-generation Expedition used the T1 platform, debuting the long-wheelbase EL/Max and EcoBoost V6.

Launching for 2007, the third-generation Expedition (U324) utilized the hydroformed T1 truck chassis. Exterior styling introduced a bold chrome grille and prominent headlights. For the first time, Ford offered the extended-length Expedition EL (Max), stretching the wheelbase by 12 inches to drastically expand cargo volume behind the third row.

A major 2015 update replaced the 5.4 V8 with a 365-hp 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, complemented by Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD) suspension and updated SYNC 3 connectivity for premium family travel.
