Introduced in 2009, the fourth generation gave light-duty versions coil-spring rear suspension in place of leaf springs — unusual for a full-size pickup and a clear gain in ride quality. The half-ton model offered RamBox storage in the bed sides. In 2010 Chrysler split the pickups into a separate Ram brand, so 2011 and later trucks dropped the Dodge name. Engines included the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6, 4.7- and 5.7-litre Hemi V8s, Cummins diesels and, from 2014, a 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V6.
