The second-generation Neon retained its recognizable style but became more mature and comfortable. The body was refined for increased safety and rigidity, and the interior received better quality materials. The SRT-4 version, introduced in this generation, turned the ordinary compact into a formidable sports car with a turbocharged engine that shocked many competitors with its performance, while remaining a practical daily family car.
