The first generation Cadillac SRX was manufactured from 2003 through 2009 built upon the rear-wheel-drive Sigma platform architecture shared with the CTS sedan. Blending station wagon and SUV proportions, it offered an optional power-folding third-row seat and an oversized UltraView panoramic sunroof. Low ride height and balanced chassis tuning provided car-like handling characteristics uncommon for mid-size crossovers of its time. The exterior design incorporates distinctive body proportions, sharp character lines, and an iconic front grille featuring the brand's emblem. Powerplants included a 255-horsepower 3.6-liter High Feature V6 and a flagship 320-horsepower 4.6-liter Northstar V8, paired with 5-speed or 6-speed automatic transmissions and available full-time AWD. A comprehensive 2007 interior redesign replaced the dashboard with hand-wrapped stitched leather surfaces, updated instrumentation, and revised audio displays.
