Buick Park Avenue II (G-body) gallery (1996–2005)

The second-generation Buick Park Avenue was launched in late 1996 for the 1997 model year, moving to the robust and rigid General Motors G-body platform shared with the Buick Riviera and Oldsmobile Aurora. This shift yielded exceptional torsional stiffness, superior ride comfort, and reduced interior noise levels. Produced exclusively in a four-door sedan configuration, the vehicle maintained its front-wheel-drive layout and featured spacious seating for up to six passengers. The powertrain lineup centered on GM's celebrated 3.8-liter Series II V6 engines: the base model utilized the naturally aspirated 205-hp L36, while the upscale Ultra trim received the supercharged 240-hp L67 V6 mated to heavy-duty 4T65E-HD 4-speed automatic transmissions. In 2003, Buick gave the model a mid-cycle facelift that included a bold new waterfall front grille, revised rear badging, chrome trim enhancements, and upgraded wheel designs. The North American production of the second-generation Park Avenue concluded in 2005 with a commemorative Special Edition package, after which the nameplate was temporarily discontinued in the US and replaced by the Buick Lucerne.
