Arriving in 2011, the F20 (5-door) and F21 (3-door) built on the original's success with improved interior room, higher quality materials, and updated infotainment. It maintained the front-engine, rear-drive layout that earned its predecessor a loyal enthusiast following worldwide.

Engine options embraced BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, culminating in the revered M135i and M140i models equipped with muscular 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-sixes. Paired with a slick 6-speed manual or ZF 8-speed automatic, it remains the last of its kind in the compact hatch segment.
