Acura TL III (UA6/UA7) photos

The third-generation Acura TL (UA6/UA7 chassis) arrived in late 2003 as a 2004 model year release. Designed in California by Erik Kimberly, the sedan featured sharp, aggressive body lines and short overhangs. The interior debuted cutting-edge technology, introducing the automotive industry's first standard 5.1 DVD-Audio ELS Surround sound system engineered by Grammy-winning producer Elliot Scheiner, alongside standard Bluetooth HandsFreeLink cell phone connectivity. Engineering priorities for this generation focused on structural rigidity, chassis refinement, and elevating active safety capabilities.

Standard TL models were powered by a 3.2-liter J32A3 V6 engine generating 270 horsepower (later SAE rated at 258 hp), offered with a 5-speed automatic or a 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission equipped with a helical limited-slip differential and Brembo four-piston front brakes. The 2007 mid-cycle update revived the TL Type S (UA7), featuring a 3.5-liter 286-horsepower J35A8 V6, quad exhaust tips, paddle shifters, stiffer anti-roll bars, and dark-finished 17-inch alloy wheels.
