Acura TL I (UA1-UA3) photos

The first-generation Acura TL (Touring Luxury) carrying chassis codes UA1, UA2, and UA3 debuted in March 1995 as a direct replacement for the Acura Vigor. Manufactured at Honda's Sayama assembly plant in Japan, the executive sedan was built on a front-wheel-drive architecture featuring a longitudinally mounted engine positioned over the front axle. The chassis utilized independent double-wishbone suspension setups at both front and rear axles to balance highway ride comfort with controlled cornering stability. Standard luxury features across the trim line included dual front airbags, automatic climate control, leather seating surfaces, power-adjustable front seats, and a power moonroof.

Powertrain options comprised two naturally aspirated gasoline engines: the 2.5 TL was powered by a 2.5-liter 20-valve inline-five G25A engine producing 176 horsepower, while the range-topping 3.2 TL featured a 3.2-liter C32A5 V6 engine generating 200 horsepower. Both powertrains were mated exclusively to a four-speed automatic transmission equipped with Honda's Grade Logic control system. For the 1997 model year, the 2.5 TL trim added standard alloy wheels and revised interior trim elements before production wrapped up in 1998 to make way for its successor.
