The second-generation Acura MDX (YD2) was manufactured from 2006 to 2013, featuring bold styling and advanced SH-AWD torque-vectoring technology.
Unveiled in late 2006 for the 2007 model year, the second-generation Acura MDX (chassis code YD2) featured bolder styling and a stiffer unibody structure refined on Germany's Nürburgring circuit. The headline engineering advance was the standard Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system with active torque-vectoring technology, capable of routing up to 70 percent of torque to the rear axle and overdriving the outside rear wheel in corners. Higher trim levels incorporated an Active Damper System using magnetorheological fluid for instant adjustable ride dynamics. Engineering priorities for this generation focused on structural rigidity, chassis refinement, and elevating active safety capabilities.
Propulsion was supplied by a 3.7-liter J37A1 V6 engine producing 300 horsepower, initially paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. A substantial facelift for the 2010 model year introduced Acura's signature Power Plenum grille, a new six-speed automatic transmission, improved engine cooling, revised cabin ergonomics, ventilated front seats, and advanced safety technologies such as Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) and blind-spot monitoring. A comprehensive list of standard features combined with proven powertrain durability helped secure a strong market presence in its segment.
