Vans and Pickups for U.S. from Volkswagen
Volkswagen is thinking about bringing larger cars to America in order to help the brand to enlarge.
The chief of VW’s commercial car division told that pickups and trucks are dominating. He also told about the rapid growth of European vans amount in America. The chief assured that they consider both options.
The automaker wants to be a mainstream producer in America and cashing in on the power of lightweight trucks sales. The company’s sales dropped 10 percent in America last year. Nevertheless, it was a record for the producer since they sold over 10 million cars around the globe.
VW has several options when it comes time to choose which van to sell. The small brand’s Caddy (the car would be a competitor to the Ford Transit Connect), the bigger Crafter (the vehicle would compete with full-size vans, such as the Mercedes Sprinter and the T5). The second model is also known as Transporter.
Considering pickup trucks, the company has the Amarok. The model would probably compete in the category of midsize trucks with the Toyota Tacoma and Chevy Colorado.
