VW Taigun is Too Short for Production

VW has come up with a decision to cancel a production variant of the Taigun concept.

According to the rumours, a production model has being considered for many years, but now the automaker has decided to cancel the project. It was stated that the reason of this was the financial instability in South American states. Focus reports that the German producer will not send the sub-compact SUV on the assembly line as the car was too small.

The Taigun concept was presented four years ago at the Sao Paulo Motor Show. It rode with a 1.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol unit generating 110 hp (or 81 kW) and torque of 129 pound-feet.

The automaker is going to output a Polo-based SUV. It will arrive on the markets in 2018. Reports suggest that the car will be previewed by a study at the Motor Show held in Geneva this March. The company is expected to present the T-Cross concept that is based on the MQB platform. The production variant will measure 157.4 inches (or 4 metres) in length. The vehicle will compete with the Nissan Juke and similar vehicles in South America, China and Europe.
