First sketches of Tiguan from Volkswagen
Volkswagen has shown the first official sketches for its next-gen Tiguan before the model’s presentation which is scheduled for the next week at this year’s IAA.
It is as clear as a day that the car from the images was influenced by the VW Cross Coupe concept. This influence spreads on the shape of taillights and the overall profile. The vehicle has a little bit toned down styling. Its front is less impressive and it has a smaller number of details made of chrome.
It was obvious that the innovated Tiguan will ride on the MQB platform. It is somewhat longer than the previous offering and has shorter overhangs. The 2nd gen of the SUV is going to be 80 kg lighter than the current vehicles. They will be sold with a TSI petrol engine. Its displacement will equal to 1.4-litres. The engine is able to generate 240 hp in its original version.
The offering on the top of the range will be equipped with a 2.0-litre Passat-sourced TDI diesel motor. It produces 240 hp. A plug-in hybrid variant is also being considered.
Expect more information to come next week along with the 2015 Motor Show in Frankfurt.
