Plug-in Hybrid and Diesel Offerings from 2016 Mercedes C-Class

The Mercedes C-Class range is enlarging for the next year’s model year. The automaker is going to add more powerplant choices for their customers.

Mercedes has entered a new generation for this model year. Though, the producer offered just two versions of the C-Class: the C400 4MATIC and the C300 4MATIC. The first one will gain a successor. The sportier C450 AMG 4MATIC will replace this model. Customers who are in search of fuel efficiency will have a chance to choose the C350e plug-in hybrid or the C300d diesel. The base vehicle C300 will remain the member of the line-up. Its price will kick off from $39,875 together with destination. This model can be obtained now with rear-wheel drive as regular. Additionally, 4MATIC 4-wheel drive will cost $2,000 more. The model under consideration will be equipped with the same 2.0-litre V4 engine developing 241 hp.

Full information about the C350e plug-in hybrid and the C300d offerings is not available at the moment. Though, we suppose that the diesel sedan will ride with a 2.1-litre turbocharged V4 engine generating 201 hp. It looks like the C300d will boast 4MATIC 4-wheel drive as regular. As to the plug-in hybrid offering, it will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged V4 engine that will be mated with an electric motor. The total vehicle’s output will equal to 275 hp. The C350e will be sold only in ZEV states. Unlike the previous model, it will have no 4MATIC option and will have rear-wheel drive system.

Besides, there is the C450 AMG Sport 4MATIC offering. It has a 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder engine. It is able to produce 362 hp. The brand has announced that this model will cost starting from $51,725.

The C63 offerings are situated at the top of the line-up. They produce 503 hp or 469 hp. The amount of power depends on trim from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo eight-cylinder engine. Price for the C63 AMG will stand at $65,625. Meanwhile the X63 S AMG with more power will cost $73,525.
